Seven horizontal bands of green, yellow, red, black, red, yellow, green. The Zimbabwe bird, superimposed on a star of red in a black-edged isosceles triangle of white, based on the hoist side.
The Zimbabwe bird depicted on the flag, also the national emblem of the country, represents a statuette of a bird found at the ruins of Great Zimbabwe. Green represents the vegetation and natural resources of the country. Yellow, the mineral wealth. Red, the blood split during the struggle for liberation. Black represents the black majority of the population.
The white triangle represents peace and points to the "way forward" for the country. The red star represents the country's aspirations, but is also commonly interpreted as socialism.
